Some final words on evilBay and PreyPal...

Its been about a year since I learned what a dispicable company evilBay is (along with their spoiled brat child PreyPal) and I terminated my relationship with them. Looks like the media is *finally* noticing, most notably Fortune and the NY Times.

I still remember when I was first ripped off on evilBay, back in 2004; I bought a laptop for $660, paid via PreyPal, and the seller went AWOL. His name was Steve Zucal, located in San Diego. Was that his real name/identity? Who knows...In the end, my final words to wrap up this chapter in my life is:

F*** you, Steve Zucal, who stole my $660

F*** you, evilBay and PreyPal who both advertised "buyer protection" but did nothing for me in this incident (and wouldn't even share with me his contact information so I could take him to small claims court)

F*** you, evilBay community who said it was ALL MY FAULT I got ripped off

F*** you, evilBay seller rystonesamanda, who charged me $10 shipping for a package she paid $1.56 to mail (and ignored every message I sent asking why shipping was so high) -- original story here

And, finally, a special f*** you, evilBay members jessopher and kraloe for your RUDE UNHELPFUL responses to me when I posted about the above in the Answer Center.

Is this the end of Liveworld as we know it?

Auctionbytes recently posted this little tidbit:eBay Changes Header Design to De-emphasize Community

"...if you don't have eBay's two announcement boards or the discussion boards bookmarked in your browser, it's difficult to figure out how to get to them. Don't despair - they're found at the very bottom of the page. The links are not provided on every page - but they are located on the home page and on listing pages. However, it's very difficult to find them - they are located in a large gray box at the bottom of the page in the fifth column of links. This is only one of many changes eBay has made to de-emphasize community. While the rest of the world believes in the power of social networking, it seems eBay is making it more difficult than ever for users to connect with each other."

It seems to me that they want to get rid of the Community completely, but need to do it gradually, thus the first step is to hide it.

Will the fun be ending soon? No SandyPurins? No Nosportss? No Clarity? Bummer!

Insulted by the evilBay shills? You now have an outlet...

A few months ago I was exchanging emails with another evilBay victim, the discussion being the shills in the evilBay forum...I said it would be nice if we had our own forum where we could post our experiences with those shills...so out of sheer fun I created The Shill Report (http://ebayshills.forumotion.com).

I pretty much forgot about it as my attention was diverted to other things in life, but now that I'm in between jobs and have some free time I think I'm going to have a little fun with it (insert Cheshire cat grin here)...

Of course, everyone is welcome to join (but anyone that looks, acts or smells like a shill will be REMOVED immediately).

Hope to see you there.

theonering.net revisited

Okay, major geek alert here (the geek being me)…

Every April from 2005 to 2009 my local Cinemaworld would have a Lord of the Rings trilogy screening (all three films in one day -- pure bliss!). They couldn't do it last year because Warner Brothers wouldn't give them the films, saying it would hurt the upcoming release of the blu-ray DVDs (makes no sense to me, but whatever)…this scenario repeated itself this past year when the extended blu-rays came out. A few weeks ago I emailed Cinemaworld suggesting that they show the trilogy on December 17 as that's the tenth anniversary of the first film being released. Two days later, what should show up on my Facebook wall but... "Just confirmed, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of 'The Fellowship of the Ring,' tickets are now on sale for our special 'Lord of the Rings' marathon on December 17th, with an encore on December 18th. Watch the entire LOTR extended edition trilogy on the big screen, presented digitally for the first time."

SQUEEEEEEEEEE!

Now, it was my assumption that the place to go for LOTR news like this is *ahem* www.theonering.net -- yes, they had the honor of being the subject of my very first blog post here. Let's see how my latest interaction went with them.

After I read the above news, I submitted the information to TORn via their "Contact Us" page, as I had always done in previous years resulting in their posting the information on the main page for all fans to see. Several days went by, and nothing was posted. I submitted it again; again, nothing. Yesterday, I submitted it a third and final time; still nothing. (Why am I going through all this, you ask? Because I want to see a good turnout at the theater, otherwise they may never do it again). Reluctantly, I posted the information in their *gag* forum.  I created a thread in the "Movie Discussion - LOTR" category. What should happen next but the always helpful moderators MOVED this post into -- get this -- the "Off Topic: TORn Moots & Other Events" category.

"Off topic?" Seriously?

Great job, guys, stick it in the dead category that nobody visits.

I recommend any other fellow LOTR geeks out there to find another source for LOTR event information, as this site no longer considers a trilogy screening newsworthy.

Oh, and their forum still stinks.

The 12 Days of an eBay Christmas

I came across this on the comments section of an Auctionbytes letter and just had to share. Kudos to "Massachusetts Howler" for composing this!

On the 1st day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
PayPal only and a 50% PERMANENT decrease in my sales.

On the 2nd day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
"Expedited" shipping including holidays in estimated arrival times.

On the 3rd day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
Best match which totally hid my UNIQUE items and caused me to starve my kids.

On the 4th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
Shop local and LEAVE THE SITE and tough luck you undesirable sellers (on dec 23rd).

On the 5th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
Mandatory (might as well be) delivery confirmation which is really another seller fee increase.

On the 6th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
The buyer anti-seller 100% Guarantee.

On the 7th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
International DSRs which STRANGELY still INCLUDE my US sales (WHY?).

On the 8th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
Monitoring OTHER sites and the use of eBay forum TROLLS.

On the 9th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
A shopping cart with GLITCHES that further enrich PayPal and do me an AUCTION seller no good at all.

On the 10th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
A 21 day HOLD ON ALL MY FUNDS until my 100% FB score "IMPROVES."

On the 11th day of Christmas eBay gave to me:
A BAD DSR from a bad THIEVING buyer that I must be reminded of 83 times a day for 1 year.

On on the 12th day my items didn't show at all,
AND I WENT BANKRUPT.

There are not enough days in Christmas to illustrate what JD has done to us but I do believe that this should be our Christmas theme song...

PayPalSucks.com . . . well, sucks!

The first website that shows up in a Google search of "PayPal complaints" is paypalsucks.com (they have a mirror site called screw-paypal.com). I've always had my suspicions about this site based on their gawdawful site design (it resembles one of those old "work at home" scam sites from some years ago) and the numerous "click here for the #1 PayPal alternative" links. In addition, the "PayPal Sucks Blog" is nothing more than posts about the latest ecommerce news (a blog is supposed to be an actual person, posting their thoughts, experiences, etc...you are reading one now...see the difference?)But they do have a forum which seemed to have some activity, and you would THINK it would naturally be a safe haven for people to share their complaints and stories, so I thought I'd give it a chance...

Along comes a Liveworld shill, "loosers69OMG" (yeah, I think he meant "losers"); here's what he's posted in the past few weeks:

Paypal is great and you all suck. enough of your crybaby stories, maybe you just fucked up and therefor paypal does not want to do business with your dumb ass anymore ever thought about that?? didnt think so.

I buy and sell using paypal with no problems what so ever. I dont think it is paypal that is the problem I think it is all the stupid people on this site that is the problem and is the cause why paypal has to to what they do to weed out the people that cant follow simple directions

stop blaming this shit on paypal and blame your freaky as friend that you picked by the way. this has nothing to do with paypal and a idiot like you got what you deserved. come out of the closet and enjoy the show.

just whining, got that right. there is nothing wrong with paypal except that it seems to attract stupid users that can not figure out how to use it the right way and therefor gets their accounts limited by no ones else fault then their own ignorant asses. PAYPAL RULES!

Paypal is great! I think the majority of people that get their account limited are uneducated, computer illiterate, stupid trailer-trash people that cant stick to the agreement they AGREED to.

Ever think that maybe everyone else is not wrong and maybe it is YOU!?!! You could not figure out how to use paypal successfully (the easiest and best way to process money) and you seem to have encountered more problems when going with a different company. Look for another way to make money this is not your thing. Why are you not using paypal?? They are awesome but they dont like to deal with stupid people.

I hit the "alert" icon on several of these, which is supposed to send a complaint about the post to the site moderator.  After this "looser" posted an offensive message in response to my own post (where I foolishly shared my recent experience) I clicked on the "contact us" link and asked why after my complaints via the "alert" icon this jerk has not been removed from the forum. I received a response stating "This is the first I have heard from you" -- meaning that in addition to have a poorly designed website, they have one that isn't functioning properly -- followed by "What exactly is your complaint? I should delete anyone who posts an opinion that differs from ours?"

Um, earth to Forum Moderator: A forum moderator is responsible for maintaining the integrity of their forum; when some troll shows up with the only intention of insulting other members it is YOUR JOB to remove them. THAT IS WHAT A MODERATOR IS SUPPOSED TO DO.

So, PayPalSucks, as a result of both your do-nothing forum moderation and your snarky response to my complaint I will not be dealing with your site ever again. I am still waiting for you to delete my profile per my request...oh, and one more thing: hire a web designer, ferchrissakes!

Another day, another complaint, another scumbag shill...

I posted my story about the mysterious penny credit on www.pissedconsumer.com...what should show up in the "Comments" section but a lovely little shill:

Written by dummy on November 14, 2011

Well it looks like you failed. Miserably. Maybe get a job now?

As you can see, I couldn't resist responding and pointing out that this comment makes no sense whatsoever (what does my job have to do with anything???)...

So I amended my original complaint with a nice little paragraph at the top:

Updates to the review posted by author:

I expected the eBay shills to show up here, and they didn't disappoint. Note the "comment" below by "Dummy" -- s/he is an employee of a company called LIVEWORLD whom eBay pays to bully people on forums. This is how eBay avoids the $11K/message fine by the FTC. You can't post a complaint anywhere without one of these sleazes showing up. They are a sad example of how low a person will go for a paycheck.

How STUPID can this company be? Don't they see that everything they try to do to make me go away only making matters worse for themselves?

Hey, "Dummy," I dare you to come over here and explain to me that stupid comment...
